While most people have treatments to the upper face, probably one of the most defining features of anyone’s face is their chin and jaw. The chin is the raised prominence of the mandibular bone, the lowermost part of the face and is one of the primary components that determine the shape of your face. The Jaw runs from your ear, down to your chin.

Some people have a weak chin where their lower jaw less developed which makes your chin project slightly backward toward your neck, or doe others the position of the lower jaw (mandible) is actually set back compared to the upper jaw (maxilla). This then means your chin and jawline that looks like it inclines inward toward your neck.

As we age, our chins can start to look weaker. This happens as your bones degrade with age and progressive bone resorption which results in decreased mandibular height and reduced chin projection. This can change the balance between the lower and upper sections of your face due to the height and buttress of the jawbone becoming reduced.

A weak chin or intruding jawline can sometimes creates an unflattering facial appearance.

This treatment should not affect the function of eating or speech.
